Recipe Post: Healthy home made Miso

Yummy Home Made Miso

I thought I would share one of my favourite recipes. It is for two people but it is so yummy I always end up eating it all to myself.

Miso Soup

1 Garlic Clove, peeled and thinly sliced
2.5 cm piece of fresh root ginger, peeled and finely sliced
1 packet instant miso soup
100g skinless boned white fish, cut into chucks (can be substituted with tofu)
8 mangetout
1 red pepper, deseeded and chopped
1 pak choi, finely sliced
2 spring onions, trimmed and sliced
1 handfull beansprouts
1 handfull fresh garden peas

1) Bring 500ml water to the boil in a medium sauce pan. Add the garlic, ginger and miso. Add the garlic, ginger and miso. Boil for 1 minute and then add the fish, mangetout and red pepper. Bring back to the boil and skim any foam that accumulated. Cook for 2 minutes

2) Add the pack Choi and spring onions and cook for a further minute

3) Divide betweens bowls, add beanspouts and peas

enjoy :)

In the kitchen

I love the pictures I find for Moon to Moon, but I often find myself wondering what type of people live in these houses. What do they do? what do they look like? and how do they interact with their homes?

So I have put together these pictures of people in their kitchens, cooking, making tea and doing yoga. The kitchen is my favourite room :)

I have a series of Readers homes posts that will be recommencing soon, I have been so busy packing for my move I haven't made time to put them up yet....if you are interested in taking part drop me an e-mail at..... moontomoon@live.co.uk

Fabulous Tiles ....

The beautiful tiles add a would add a sense of the fabulous to any kitchen

Beautiful bohemian vintage tiles

Copper pot, tiles and baby blue sink

Beautiful hand painted tiles
I have surprised myself by loving these Mirror tiles

After years of renting and moving from house to house I have finally had an offer on a house accepted.....Eeek!

I am trying not to get my hopes up as there is so much that can go wrong, but.......... being a bit obsessed with interiors (don't know if you have noticed) I have of course spent a fair bit of time dreaming about removing the vile bathroom tiles currently in place and replacing them with something a little more exciting.

Nice tiles are so expensive, to cover a whole room or area would cost me a fortune that sadly i don't have however a small area over a sink (as below) or even a beautiful tile border surrounding cheaper plain tiles is a little more affordable.

A simple internet search will bring up some great links to a variety of tile shops. I have been drooling over fired earth!!

All Tea Towels Give away

It has been a fair while since I did a give away on Moon to Moon, so I was delighted when Al from all-tea-towels.co.uk got in touch to offer me two tea towels to review and a further two as a give away of course I graciously accepted.

After looking at his site I fell instantly  in love with the illustrated Tunnock's Tea towel below (not sure if international readers have Tunnock's tea cakes but they are the yummiest things ever!) so the first choice was a no brainer.

The coolest tea towel ever!! Tunnock's teacake tea towel

I was not disappointed with my choice, It is a screen printed picture on 100% unbleached cotton so it is really, really good quality and although now I have tested it to ensure it had good absorbency (which it did) the design is so awesome I think I may frame it to go on my kitchen wall. Awesome!!

The second tea towel was harder to choose as there were so many good ones but I eventually chose the Nautical knots tea towel below. When I was younger I went to Sea cadets where I learnt not only to sail and row and canoe but also tie knots and I remember being so proud of my first figure of eight ( I know, I was a cool kid right? ha ha).

Nautical Knots, bends and Hitches tea towel
This towel is again really good quality and is made of 100% linen. It did require soaking first to increase the absorbency but it was truly worth it, it is a great tea towel. The only problem with the tea towels is now they make my old ratty ones look even rattier and gross. Maybe its time I replaced them all.

So to the Give away. Al from 'all tea towels' has kindly agreed for one lucky reader to choose 2 tea towels of their own, to shipped to anywhere in the world. All you have to do to enter the give-away is sit back with a cuppa tea and browse 'all tea towels' and leave ONE comment below with details of your chosen tea towels ( if you cant be contacted via your blog- please leave your email address in the comment) and 'like' all tea towels on facebook - oh and be following Moon to Moon :)

The winner will be chosen by a picking a name out of a hat, obviously at random on Monday the 6th February....

Good Luck xxx Gabi xxx

I have so many wonderful kitchen images that this post has seen a few edits before posting. My favourite is the beautiful bohemian style kitchen in the first picture, I can imagine eating a good hearty stew and home made bread created in this kitchen, perfect for the freeeeeezing winter days here in England.

Butlers sink's

First 3 images from Living etc

I love butlers sinks, my parents have always favoured them over the modern type. The funny thing about them is that they are a very common find in British Victorian/Edwardian gardens being used as planters, which i find really funny as they, in my opinion, are so much nicer than the ones they were usually replaced with. However, as you can see from below they can also look great in the garden with herbs and plants in.
